Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how LiveBytes (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with Synesis, a local-first email client for Windows and Android, and the product pages at livebytes.net/synesis/.

1. What Synesis is

Synesis is a local-first email client. Message lists, bodies, folders, drafts, and related app state are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. The app syncs with mail providers you choose — for example Microsoft Graph (Outlook / Exchange-style accounts) and IMAP/SMTP (including Gmail via OAuth or app passwords).

LiveBytes does not operate a Synesis cloud mail server and does not receive or host your mailbox contents. Your mail stays between your device and the providers you connect. We cannot read your inbox through a Synesis backend because there is none for that purpose.

2. Information stored on your device

Depending on how you use the app, Synesis may store locally:

Removing an account can optionally wipe that account's local cache, index, outbox rows, and stored tokens. That wipe affects your device only; it does not delete mail on the provider.

3. Information sent to third parties

To provide email features, Synesis communicates directly with services you authorize:

Those providers process your data under their privacy policies and terms. LiveBytes does not control Microsoft, Google, or independent mail hosts.

4. This website

The marketing and legal pages on livebytes.net are static content served by LiveBytes Studio. They do not require an account. Any server logs, CDN, or hosting analytics on livebytes.net (if enabled by the host) are separate from the Synesis app and are governed by LiveBytes' site hosting practices.

5. Analytics and crash reporting

As of the date above, the Synesis application does not ship third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services that phone home to LiveBytes or a telemetry vendor. If that changes in a future release, this policy will be updated and in-app notices should follow.

6. Children's privacy

Synesis is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided information via a connected mail account, contact us and we will help you understand how to remove local data from the device.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app or these pages after an update means you have had a chance to review the revised policy.
