Phronesis
Phronesis – where it stands
Phronesis is the Organon personal cockpit: capture what matters, sort it, plan today, focus. Offline on your device. Power surfaces optional. Sibling to Synesis under LiveBytes. Page: livebytes.net/phronesis/.
People ask where it “is,” usually meaning one of three things: is it vapor, is it shipping, or can I sign up for your cloud.
Honest answers:
It is real software
This is not a landing page with a mailchimp and a dream. There’s a codebase. There are product docs, modules, sync-pack work, packaging paths, defect logs, the whole unglamorous pile. I use the spine every day: capture, organize, today, focus.
It’s already lived long enough to need version language. V3 was a real generation with a closed “V-Now” scope. V3.1 was a follow-on wave (habits, scheduling constraints, today-surface polish, that family of itch fixes). I won’t pretend the numbers make it “done” for strangers. They mean I’m not endlessly rewriting the same myth under a new logo.
It is not a SaaS I run for you
I don’t host Phronesis for other people. I don’t operate a sync cloud as a product. Standalone on your machine is the default story. Geek self-host exists for people who like that sort of thing. Friends-and-family-as-a-service does not.
If you need me to be your uptime department, this is the wrong instrument.
Why it isn’t a big public “1.0” parade yet
Because I’d rather ship something I respect than invent a countdown. Sync that’s honest is harder than a pretty today view. Packaging for humans who double-click is harder than a demo GIF. I care about both.
There will be a longer note someday on why the version number got ahead of a store listing. Short version: the product kept earning seats while the distribution story stayed picky. Sticky notes are honorable. Fake launches are not.
Who it’s for (today)
People who outgrew a simple list and still refuse a second job as a sysadmin. Calm defaults. Optional depth. Local-first bias. Organon family manners: instruments, not vibes.
If that’s you, watch the Phronesis page and these Notes. When there’s something you can install without a secret handshake, I’ll say so in plain language.
Why poke it on the studio bench now
Because LiveBytes is where the work lives, and Phronesis is part of that work. Job-hunt Trish and theater Trish and space-nerd Trish all collide here. Hiding the cockpit until it’s “perfect” would be vibes. Showing status without cosplay is the point.
Synesis has a clearer public story right now (mail that lives on your machine first). Phronesis is catching up in public honesty, not in existence.
More when the next wave earns a sentence that isn’t “still shaping.”
